Mission
The Foundation raises, manages, and allocates wide ranging resources to support and enhance the development of the recreational, scientific, environmental, educational and aesthetic elements of the award winning master plan for Chambers Creek Regional Park.
Our Board
The Foundation will achieve our mission and actualize our vision guided by the following shared beliefs:
We welcome, encourage and foster community voice, participation, collaboration and partnership: a relationship grounded in integrity, flexibility, transparency and fiscal responsibility.
We revere the preservation and reclamation of natural resources for public education, access and benefit
While embracing a visionary strategy with sound tactical implementation, we are stewards for the environmental integrity, natural beauty and historic nature of the Chamber Creek Properties,
Jim Baldes - President
I’m most proud that the Foundation has raised public awareness of the site and contributed to the amenities that a government agency could not or would not fund.
Sharon Knight - Treasurer
With books from the "Friends of the Library" the UP Library board, I stock the small free library next to Playground by the Sound every few weeks. In this digital age, I feel it's very important for children to touch and hold books, as their parents read to them.
Kim Oman - Secretary
From the glorious trails around the golf course with magnificent views of Puget Sound and the snow covered Olympics, to the forested trails of Canyon Creek, I love it all.
Bruce Murray - Site Stewardship Team
Since 2007 I have headed up the 'Site Stewardship Team’, a volunteer effort to work on clearing the property of invasive plants and doing occasional planting. Over the past 12 years the cumulative effect has been quite dramatic & involved hundreds of people.
Tim Vader - Communication
I’m proud of my work on the build team for the Playground by the Sound. I’ve hiked most of the trails and am looking forward to the extension of the Chambers Creek Canyon trails.
Curt Lewin
I’m a hardcore birder and passionate about conservation. I’m most proud that CCF has shortened the Park development time to the point that Pierce County is working mostly just on the South Area.
Joe Scorcio
I’m most proud of my contribution of the idea for the Master Site Plan (while a County employee) as well as stewarding the Plan through the public process and management strategy.
