Our Surroundings
Chambers Creek Regional Park has sweeping views of the Puget Sound including Ketron, Anderson, McNeil, and Fox Islands and views of the Olympic mountains and Mount Rainier. The Park lies at the confluence of the communities of University Place, Lakewood and Steilacoom. Tree-lined boulevards provide stunning access. From Grandview, the elevation rapidly descends 230 feet over the half-mile to the Sound. The freight and passenger trains, tiny on the water’s edge, captivate the imagination.
The 930-acre site was a sand and gravel mine for 110 years and there are still some legacy structures that form immense iconic backdrops to recreational strolls. The majority of the trails are paved and circle the nationally recognized Chambers Bay Golf Course. The Canyon Creek Trails are the only portion of the park that was not originally part of the mine and retain their wild forested appearance. Here you can expect to see a variety of wildlife in it's natural habitat. Also available is access to the beach, meadows, play structures, and ball fields.
